Curse you migraine! Spent half of today either pacing my room or throwing up due to a massive headache, finally getting to sleep about 5:30pm. Meant that I missed the close of the conference and the toys give away.
Well done to Wellington for getting the gong for 2010.
Photos: Yay managed to get my photos off my camera thanks to Kim Hawtin and another gentleman I didn't catch the name of. I've set up a Set on flickr and I've included a couple of the better ones below:

I've got over 200 so I'll be adding more as time goes on.
Well it's not really the end, still got the Penguin Dinner tonight down at the Wrest Point (home of the $22.00 pizza). However today was kind of lazy, mostly due to the fact that I was/am so shattered after getting up early this morning. Attended the keynote, will have to watch the video to ensure I catch up on the bits that I missed through nodding off.
The other talk I attended was the Django Introduction, which was really interesting until I started nodding off again, and no it wasn't due to the quality of the speaker. In order not to commit the cardinal sin of falling asleep I had to leave during a break, hence this is another talk that I'm going to have to catch up via the magical steam driven video download service. That reminds me, I need to catch up with Jacob and apologise.
Sigh, I still have no idea why I was awake so early.
Blergh, for some reason I've been up since 5:30 so I thought I would take the opportunity to post some random thoughts:
So that's it for now. I've been taking plenty of photos, however having left the data cable at home, they're going to stay on the camera until I either find someone with an xd card reader or until I get home.
Well I'm really enjoying myself at LCA 09 and I've actually been productive in that I sent a patch into Mikal's mythnettv. So let's see what the rest of the day brings.
I'm sitting here watching Michael Still give his talk on mythnettv and I've got to say that I'm impressed. At the moment it's strictly command line (I believe there is a gtk UI for mythbuntu but that's not true Myth Integration), however it does offer what I think is a better way to integrate traditional media and the new media arena than what I was working on.
I've hit a couple of feeds that it doesn't like, however it's early days so I have high hopes.
Well as I sit here in our wonderful accomodation, I can say that I've enjoyed my time in Hobart so far. The trip down was interesting especially once we started to fly over Tasmania. It was amazingly obvious how much logging actually happens in Tasmania from the height we were flying at. The contrast between unlogged areas and those that had been thinned out was stark.
Once we arrived at Hobart Airport (I haven't had to walk the tarmac after getting off a plane for a looong time) I caught the Airport Shuttle Bus (at $15.00 it's not bad value) to the University Accomodation. That's when the pain started. I thought that the walk from the accom to conference in Sydney was long and tiring, however it has now been beaten by the slope heading up to the UTAS accomodation. Looking up from where the bus had left me, I drudged on towing my luggage behind me.
After a long and arduous climb I finally made my way to the top and checked in.
I've been taking a few photos as I go along, however in a moment of true genius I forgot the data cable from the camera to the laptop and the so called multi-card reader only actually does SD cards while the camera I have uses CD cards. So once I find someone with a working xd card reader, I'll start blatting them up.
In keeping with previous years, Michael Davies has setup a planet for LCA 09, so this is my first entry in an lca09 specific feed. I'll be sending Michael the details so he can add it to the planet.
