So the Coalition government in New South Wales passed their "It's not really about Clover at all" legislation through the upper house last night. This legislation will make it verbotten for State Members of Parliament to hold both the office of MP and the office of Local Government Councillor at the same time.

Okay, got a couple of things to rant about.
Oh noes! It's Science! Run for your lives!
For those of you living under a rock, you may have missed the NSW Governments Leader in the Upper House sallhying forth on the nature of scientists. This little gem is an excellent example of the sort of leadership we're going to expect over the next 8 years.

Well there we go, the electorate has given the Labor party the complete spankering that everyone expected would happen. Barry O'Farrel is the new Premier, Kristina Keneally has withdrawn to the back bench and the Labor has come within ten seats of losing party benefits in the lower house.
So now what?
What exactly is this going to mean for NSW in the next four to eight years?
First up, lets have a look locally.

Okay, labor is about to spend a loooooong time in the desert.
The Labor party is dead in the water(hrmm would this count as a spoiler?). The most recent polls has the Nationals potentially getting more seats than Labor at the election, which ensures that the Coalition (unless of course it manages a Labor like performance in its first term) has at least 2, possibly 3 terms to play with before the Labor party even comes close to challenging them.
