Movement at the Angry Beanie station

Blog Catagories:

Good news everybody!

This week I've started pulling everything together to bring both For Science! and Purser Explores The World back to the internet airwaves :)

I won't reveal what the return episode of Purser Explores The World is going to be about, but suffice to say it's going to continue the same explorations and interview style that previous episodes had.

Tired but looking up

Blog Catagories:

Ye gods I'm tired.

Mostly I think this is due to the prodigious amount of travel that I've been doing to Melbourne for work, which while interesting, has left me with very little time to get a handle on things that I want to do outside of work.

There is a light on the horizon though, it looks like the Melbourne sojourne is coming to an end, and that means that at the very least psychologically I can start looking at committing to doing things around Angry Beanie that I've been meaning to do for the past six months.

So here's a rundown of the tasks I've set myself.

So, it's been a while

Blog Catagories:

Well as you can see it's been a while since I last posted here, just over a year in fact, so it's time for a bit of a clean up.

End of the week notes

Blog Catagories:

Well it's been a busy week work wise and Angry Beanie wise, over all I'm pretty happy with how things are going.

I'm currently working on making some changes to the Angry Beanie site. I've already added the three latest episodes as blocks on the front page featuring HTML5 players, but I'm also looking at rebuilding the Show and Episode pages. I'm just not happy with the layouts, too busy and not exactly attractive to look at.

Another For Science! out the door

Blog Catagories:

Last night saw another episode of For Science! released.

We spoke about the child who appears to have been "functionally cured' of HIV, a new form of locomotion for robots, bacteria from Lake Vostok, Mars and cloning.

You can find the MP3 here: http://angrybeanie.com/sites/angrybeanie.com/files/media/For_Science_-_Episode_8.mp3

Fund raising for Angry Beanie

Blog Catagories:

So if you haven't been following what I do over at Angry Beanie then you will have missed the bit where I blogged about raising funds to grow AB to something more than just me in front of a microphone.

Basically it boils down to this.

Some changes afoot

Blog Catagories:

Starting on Monday I'm going to be joining the team at Catalyst IT Australia as a Drupal developer. This is going to be a full time position so there are going to be a few changes.

Firstly, this means that I'm going to be in Sydney 5 days a week, so if anyone wants to catch up for lunch then feel free to ping me :)

How does this marketing thing work?

Blog Catagories:

One of the hardest things about putting together Angry Beanie isn't chasing interviews. Nor is it building the hosting infrastructure, or in fact resisting the urge to keep checking the downloads stats.

No, it's working out how to get more people to listen without appearing to be either:

Working things out

The last couple of months have been interesting for me.

I've had a couple of short contracts working with Drupal and Joomla and I have to say, I'm still very much a Drupal person. Joomla just doesn't seem to have the same polish, either in the core system or the module set around it. You may disagree but meh, everyone's different.

Something new at Angry Beanie

Blog Catagories:

I've decided to try something new for me and run a weekly video thing on youtube.

Called Angry Beanie Rant, it's a 5-10 minute thing where I talk about some of the things that have annoyed me over the past week.

Here's the first episode:
